Hi Stacey,

I worm and Ivomec (Ivermectin) all of the Piggyfriends once every three months. Yes, you can give both treatments at the same time ( followed by a tasty slice of cucumber and a cuddle - optional ).

The dosage is 0.4ml of Panacur or Valbazan per adult piggy. I start the treatment when they are 3 months old, beginning with 0.2ml. working up to 0.3ml as they grow. I have a couple of very small adults to whom I still give the 0.3 dose.

Most vets won't know what you are talking about but if your vet treats farm animals, he will have wormer in stock as it is intended for sheep. I can buy my meds from the CCT and Cavies Castle but if you know someone who keeps sheep, they should be able to get it from a feed store.

I continue to worm my piggies for all of their life as it is safe for the elderly ones too. Peter Gurney said that It is rare for a piggy to pick up a "worm" but the wormer keeps the balance of the gut flora. So, if you can buy Panacur along with your Ivomec, I can thoroughly recommend it.

Love to the Squee Squad,

Penny and the Piggyfriends.
