Hi again,
The day after little Phoebe came to live with me, I came to find she had an
abscess under her neck (I found it when it burst rather suddenly and scared
the bejeezes out of me).
Phoebe and I went to the vet, and we were given instructions to give
antibiotics twice daily (Baytril), clean the area with hydrogen peroxide
twice daily, and do a warm compress 3 times a day for 10 minutes.
Well, the first two instructions have gone over well, but Phoebe and I are
having a tough time with the third.
Our issue is I have been trying a warm wash cloth, but it seems to cool down
after only 30 seconds or so. I don't want to make it to hot, because I can
tell her large sore is a little sensitive (it's almost the size of a nickel,
which is quite large on a 7 month old piglet). Any suggestions here? I can
tell the compress is probably very important, especially since her abscess
seems to be filling again, so I'd like to help her help it drain!!
Any suggestions would be really fantastic!
Thanks,
Liz and Phoebe
