Hi Cheryl

A couple of years ago I had a piggy who used to have soft droppings even
though he was on the same diet as all the others, and they were fine.
What I found helped him was an addition to his dry mix; I gave him some
extra pellets of Pascoe's Guinea Pig Goodness, and that seemed to get the
balance right in his gut. What is special about this feed is that it
contains Profeed, a prebiotic. I did try restricting his salad variety
for a little while, as I found certain things made him more likely to have
loose droppings than others, but after I mixed the Guinea Pig Goodness
with his normal feed, he had no more trouble in that department. It can
be a good idea to mix two dry feeds together anyway, in case you can't get
one for some reason.

The barbering...yes, they do that sometimes. Don't put anything on Alex's
coat, if it puts JB off, it will put Alex off as well, and he won't be
able to get away from it, and you don't want him ingesting it when he
grooms. Sometimes it's a dominance thing, sometimes it's boredom, but I
just wonder in this case whether JB is trying Alex's hair as a little
extra roughage! If that's the case, it should settle if you can get his
tummy to settle. You can't go wrong with plenty of extra hay: some to
nibble, some to play with, some to sleep on, and some "just to be on the
safe side"!

Kay
