[Gpdd] health/silly: allergies and Pignorance

Hi All,

regarding the people who had an allergic reaction from certain breeds of
piggies, but not of other breeds:
When Janneke first got Jan we suspected that he might have something in his
coat which made us itch. Janneke gave him a bath with special guinea pig
shampoo, and probably also the oil treatment. After that the itching
stopped. So maybe some piggies are more prone to beasties, fungus or
whatsoever in their coat (Lot had mites more then once, i guess mites just
love her thick coarse fur :( ). So if one piggie makes you itch and one
doesn't you might consider batch the one that makes you itch? Of course if
it's just the guinea pig your allergic too, that won't help...

about tea tree oil: I think gorgeousguineas(.com?) who sell special guinea
pig shampoos have tea tree oil in some of their products. Since they seem a
responsible company i'm pretty sure it okay to use tea tree oil on your
piggies. Just my two cents...

And on a more happier note (and hoping to make you laugh) about pignorance:
My mom really adores the piggies, whenever she visits us or janneke, she
will say things: oh, i have to spent time with my grandchildren. give 'em
all equal attention. She has a nice boar herself called Robbie, whoM she
(and especially her boyfriend) pampers.
Now here the thing that made me laugh. She knows we see our piggies as our
kids, that's probably why she calls them her grandchildren.
But one day she said with a sad look on her face: I won't have real
grandchildren, i'll just have Guinea pigs...
