Hi Maren.  This is also known as Graves Disease.  If your vet does a T-4 count it should show what's going on.  From what I understand Tapazole is the med usually prescribed.
   
  From the little I've read, the piggy eats like a piggy but still loses weight.  Maybe it can be different or the earlier meds are confusing the issue?
