Hi again Mary.  Yes, hormonal issues would definitely cause the problems you're having.  From my understanding of the surgery, once the problem is removed the agressiveness will go away.  Good luck to sweet little Pooh at the vets.
   
  That was very thoughtful of your friend to bury your babies for you.  At least you can visit and it will feel as though they are not completely gone.
