Dear Susi

Please be careful with apple as it can cause guinea pigs to develop mouth
sores in the corners of their mouths. Once they've got them, it can be hard
to budge, as I found out with my two. Apples should be an occasional fruit,
and the apple should always be washed, as many these days are covered in a
wax to make them shiny.

Bananas are usually sprayed with pesticides, so I would personally want to
wash the skin of those if you intend to give that to a piggie. Honey dew
melon is great with the rind, as it's excellent for their teeth, but again,
please wash the ouside of it first before cutting into it.

I always peel carrots, again because of all the pesticides used these days.

hope that helps.

Carole
