Debbie,
I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that Claude has wasting disease---I
remember Alge's posts as well and became quite concerned when my Isabel exhibited
similar symptoms from mid-January thru late February. Isabel (3 1/2 yrs old)
ate a lot but was losing weight. She also had diarrhea and drank a lot due to
dehydration. Are Claude's poos normal?

Isabel underwent various tests during the month including stool samples,
urinalysis, teeth checks, complete blood tests, and X-rays. She was normal on
all counts. She was put on Baytril for a time. For 2 weeks now, she has
started to maintain her weight and her diarrhea has stopped although she has an
occasional soft poo. Because she had been overweight, she was able to get
through her illness easier. During this entire time, she was quite playful and
interested in her surroundings.

I don't really think we'll ever know the true reason for her getting
sick---perhaps some sort of viral infection or a bad veggie or even maybe picking up
something off the floor during playtime. I'm hoping that, like Isabel,
Claude's system will be able fight off the bug and get back to normal. Again,
this process took about five weeks under the very close watch of an exotics
vet.

Please keep us informed on Claude's progress. We'll keep our fingers/paws
crossed.

Janet, slave to Isabel and Lily
