Hi Ruth and everyone else,
For what it's worth, Ruth, i agree with you. i love our pigs, but in 
principle they are not that different from rabbits or chickens. I really 
like cows too, they are such gentle creatures, and pigs are really smart.But 
i stil eat them, and wear them on my feet etc. Personally i don't like 
chickens but is that where i draw a line??
I like that so many of the gpdd-ers are standing up for piggy rights. I love 
my pigs and that part of me agrees with you guys. But if i look at it 
logically, i think i should become a veganist, not just vegetarian. But I 
cannot ask this of a crocodile.
A few months ago i went to the zoo and took the predator guided tour. It was 
really interesting.It taught me that there is more to predator feeding than 
meets the eye. For example, lions do not only need meat. In the wild they 
eat the bowels of their prey. Nowadays they deal with that by giving the 
lions mainly beef with something that looks like sand on top.this stuff 
contains vitamins and minerals which they usually get from the bowels. They 
liked to give them a rabbit every now and then, because that was 
nutritionally good for them and also kept them from being bored with their 
food (which is a big problem in zoos). I did not like seeing this, but who 
am i to judge? My mother and her boyfriend chewed away a rabbit during 
christmas dinner, and i'm sure many people do. I hate it, but who am i to 
say that my culture is better than the cultures where they eat guinea pigs 
and dogs?
At the other end, I do agree, that because many people have guinea pigs as a 
pet, it is really disturbing to watch, and that is why it is socially 
unacceptable.(which is different, not opposite, from logically acceptable)
I guess my point is, I have very mixed feelings about this topic.
Please remember that i love all of you guys and the pigs the most ;-)
