Nicholle- Hopefully there is no lynch mob, I'm
  sure at least most of us understand what you're
  trying to say, and for the most part agree with 
  you.  None of us like to think of any of the little
  guys being on the wrong end of dinner. 
  No, we can't change other people's traditions
  just because we don't like it. But we can try to
  spread the notion that, at least in the more 
  civilized countries, guinea pigs are pets, not
  food. But wasn't the issue whether it should be
  acceptable for zoos to use them as food? We
  need to stay focused on this, it is probably
  more widespread than we know. But it's not
  the alligator's natural food, and it can't be very
  cost effective for them, either. Much more has
  already been said, and much better, in this
  regard. Let's all agree to try to persuade the
  zoos, at least, to find some alternative food.
  And while we're at it, maybe we should also
  address the issue of what is acceptable to
  print in newspapers (at least leave out the
  pictures?).
