If the piggie didn't react in some way when you
clapped your hands behind him, he is probably
deaf. But then, I've had piggies simply ignore
such things, and he may have limited hearing,
too. But, like I said about Spirit, our sweet
little blind piggie, he simply didn't see with
his eyes. They have an excellent sense of
smell that is much more reliable than either
hearing or sight, plus they feel vibrations.
Whenever I would pick him up, I would take
extra care to hold him against my chest, to
feel safe plus he could feel me talking to him.
It made a big difference.(the reason for the
'past tense' here - Spirit, and his seeing-eye
pig, Stormy, moved to a new home a couple
months ago, where they rule supreme)
Is your deaf piggie albino, by any means?
Spirit is, as is "Wonder" our other 'special'
boy. They have a certain gene that causes
  this.
  Very sweet piggies.
