Personally, I was disgusted by the reply from the St.Augustine Zoo and am delighted that so many people have signed the petition.

Living in England, where it is cold and wet, I don't have a lot to do with crocodiles or alligators, but many years ago, on a family vacation to Florida, we all visited a place called Gatorland. I don't know if it still exists. There was a "show" in which the alligators jumped out of the water to take pieces of chicken and I imagined that this was their normal diet. After the show, folk went off to the restaurant, where chicken was on the menu. As an almost lifelong vegetarian, I wouldn't even eat chicken but I wonder how those people would have felt if guinea pigs had been offered to the creatures in the show and would they have considered eating one for their lunch.

I have been a member of IFAW ( International Fund for Animal Welfare ) since its inception and they have been campaigning for an end to dogs being served in restaurants for many years.

I have to accept that farm animals will always be bred for food, though not for me, but to expect animals that we consider pets to be used in this way is abhorrent.

Well done Jaime for bringing this to more people's attention.

Penny and the Piggyfriends.
