I just took Penny to the vet today for a Depo-Lupron shot to shrink ovarian
cysts. $136 - not cheap, but she's over 5 years old and I too don't want to
risk surgery.

Alopecia (baldness) on either flank is an indicator of ovarian cysts but
Penny still has all of her hair! I noticed her being a big too aggressive with
her housemates and the doctor confirmed cysts upon examination. She could
feel them.

The behavior doesn't subside immediately after the shot - it might take a
day or two. But Penny seems glad to be home and a bit calmer.

"It doesn't matter what the kids say. Rabbits are not disposable like a box
of cereal or a Disney video. They WILL get tired of the rabbits and go on to
the next toy. YOU will have to deal with the consequences. Unfortunately,
most people deal with the situation by DUMPING their rabbits on someone else.
Ultimately, it is the bunny that pays for your inability to say NO."
