[Gpdd] Rescue: I had my Shelter orientation tonight...Wheeek!

Hello Slaves,
I finally had my Shelter orientation
this evening. Linda, the Volunteer
Coordinator gave us lots of literature
and took us on an extended tour of the
shelter and gave us a bunch of information
and all that good stuff. It had been a
little while since I had seen her, but
she remembered that I wanted to concentrate
on the little critters when we went into
the 'Exotics' room and immediately
started 'oooooohing' and 'aaaaaaahing'
over them. They had 4 guinea pigs,
1 rattie, 1 ferret, and 3 rabbits. One
guinea pig was very flirtatious and
tried to gimmee a kiss through the bars.
Very Cute.

So, I have one more orientation to go
through in a couple of wheeeeks. The
police department does that one, but
they only offer it once a month. The
Charlotte/Mecklenburg Animal Shelter is
run through the police department which
is one of the reasons why they have such
an extensive application process.

The shelter is about 5-10 minutes from
my house, so I am very Happy about that.
It sure will be nice to be surrounded
by animals...Wheeeeek!
