Hi Penny,

Thank you so much for emailing me. And thank you for telling me about Peter
Gurney for whom I have the utmost respect and was so sorry at his death last
year.

The new little piggies are sweet - very skittish and one is a little quicker
to settle in then the other. We still need to take them to the vet to get
them checked over especially as I would like to introduce them to Squeeks,
our other little girl, but don't want to pass on any nasties they might
have. Hopefully not. Squeeks is really missing her momma, Widget, and my
husband is feeling like she thinks he is connected to her being gone somehow
- because she is showing him the whites of her eyes which she's never done
before. I think it would be good for her to have cagemates again if they can
get along. It's not that she's "alone" because she is surrounded by the
three boys' hutches, but she is used to having someone to snuggle up to.
We've been bringing her down into our bed for a little extra snuggling and
she seems to really like that. Last night she settle right in under my hand
and chin and was quite content.

The little guys really do wring their way into your hearts - don't they? And
thank goodness for that, because all love is equally valuable if you know
what I mean!

thanks again, it really has helped to hear from the other GPPD'ers who have
responded publicly and privately!

Kirsten

Kirsten,

I was so sorry to read about the loss of your piggy, Widget. Despite their
short, little legs and their inability to cling to anything, some of these
little guys are determined to climb things that they really should not.
Please don't blame yourself for Widget's accident. It can happen to anyone.
Even Peter Gurney once lost one of his piggies, of which he did not have a
firm enough grip, and it fell to the floor with fatal results. He did a lot
of "soul searching" afterwards as I am sure that you have.

I'm so glad to read that you have new piggies to love to take away some of
the pain of Widget's loss. They sound lovely and so lucky to have been
rescued.

Don't be a stranger to the digest. Let us know how your new piggies get on.

Penny and the Piggyfriends.
