Carole,

A simple cut to the foot should not make it " huge and a bit bloody looking ". If you have since discovered that there is just a cut, clean the area thoroughly and smother it in Vaseline.

>From your brief description. it sounds as though Ginger has either an infection, which will need antibiotics or the dreaded Bumblefoot. See GuineaLynx http://www.guinealynx.info/pododermatitis.html for more info on this, which is technically called Pododermatitis. This causes scabs to appear on the foot pad and if they break off, there is profuse bleeding.

Either way, Ginger will need the vet, hopefully a more sympathetic and knowledgeable practice than the one you called.
