Well he took another dip. He was almost gone when I got him to the vet.
His lab results that morning had pointed to his pancreas. There his a___ (I
will ask the vet to right it down) levels were waaay high. This meant he
might have pancreatic cancer or pancreatitis. The first would have been too
progressive, so I was praying for pancreatitis. Well the glucose and oxygen
brought him back (pointing to pancreatitis). He is such a little fighter!
He was eating lettuce and pooping in a few hours!!! So now we wait and
pray... The vet is watching him today. They do not have hours today, but
they are in and out all day. I did not want to take him to the emergency
vet, since they said the evil E word and their GP Dr is not in until
tomorrow. Today no news is good news. I want to be calling them tomorrow
and see how he is. If he is about the same, that might mean his pancreas is
damaged and ..... If he is alot stronger we caught it in time and I
will learn the next step. Pancreatitis explains why all the weird ups and
downs have been happening. Their blood levels drop in the early stages
which can lead to loss of appetite and a coma (which is what happened while
I was at work). In latter stages their blood levels soar, and they can
become diabetic. I will get y'all the name of that chemical (a___) to have
checked with their blood work. My vet said that this has been checked in
dogs and cats for years, but has just recently entered into the GP checks.
As a matter of fact, his last blood work (a few weeks to a month ago) did
not check it!!! Well I will keep you posted.
