I was hoping someone could give me advise about my Checkie. She's a 4+ year
old sow who within the last few months have had some medical issues that she
is being treated for but I was wondering if anyone has had these problems.
She's been dragging her back leg for a while now. After taking her in to
the vet and taking x-rays, she's been diagnosed with osteoarthritis. She
was prescribed metacam which didn't help and is now on prednisone.
Another issue that I that when I pick her up, I notice some "blood" on her
rectal area. My vet took x-rays for bladder stones, did blood tests, took
urine tests and nothing. Well last night when I was giving her the
prednisone, her butt was dirty again and when I cleaned her, a long "blood
clot" came out of her. I panicked and rushed her to the vet. My vet says
that this is not blood but is mucus. And is not so uncommon in adult sows.
I was wondering if anyone else is dealing with this or has seen this?
Thanks,
Sandi
