I asked my Rodentologists about garamycin and they said that it used to be used a lot at the CCT ( Cambridge Cavy Trust - a piggy hospital in England ). So it is safe for piggies despite the scary contra-indications for humans that I have read about. They thought that they still had some in the back of the cupboard although they prefer to use Septrin these days as it is gentler on a piggy's stomach.

They have recently started to use acidophilus and are amazed by the improvement in some of their patients. Many poor eaters have started munching really well and have put on weight so I think that I will keep some in my piggy medicine box.
