Hi folks,

My first piggy I am worried about actually belongs to a friend of mine. The pig's name is Sara. When my friend brought in a new little girl named Hannah a few days ago, Sara immediately seemed to take a dislike to her. Since then, she has nipped her on her little bottom, her legs and now, yesterday, she actually bit poor Hannah's ear and left a V in it! She called me, most upset and I told her after making sure the ear is OK, to go get another cage immediately and put Hannah in it for her own safety. Sara had also been trying to mount Hannah, which leads me to suspect she may be in season and this could possibly be causing some of this behavior. Is there some way to bring these two together? Hannah won't fight back, just cries out and kind of sits there.

My second nipping piggy is my own. That is Tabitha and she is a very curious, active but grouchy pig! She is a younger girl, about 6 weeks old and long haired. When I first started handling her, she would softly nibble on my fingers and I did not know if that was wrong or not so I kind of let it slide. But, now, I can definitely tell it's when she doesn't want to be touched, petted, stroked or even spoken to at the moment. Sheesh! Today, I had her in her play area and had a little bowl of lovely fresh veggies for them in there so I hung my arm over the side in order for them to get used to the presendce of my hand in a non "chasing you around the cage" feel. She was right below my hand when all of a sudden, for no reason, she reached up, gave my finger a nip and then took off running! She isn't biting me hard but I am afraid if I let it continue, it may get to that point. I know to blow in her face or tug the hair at the back of her neck, but being blind, I can't always get that little bugger to hold still long enough for me to administer any such discipline and I *think* they know it! LOL

Anyway, it's good to be here now and I hoped these things start showing up in my box where I can read them.

Winks and wheeks to all!

Lynn, Samantha and the ever curious Tabitha
