Hi Carole,

That hairdressing training is going to come in useful! Maybe the start of a whole new career. Piggy Parlour.

Peter Gurney used to layer cut some of his Peruvians and you might like to do this with yor boy. I leave mine long at the sides and the hair seems to flick up. It depends on how long that hair grows. Show Peruvians have endless hair, which is wrapped up in little papers and only brushed out for showing, where they are put on a board and look like fluffy sunbursts. Here is a link to a pigture http://www.petplanet.co.uk/petplanet/breeds/Guinea_Pig_-_Long_Haired.htm

Joan reminded me of something that I omitted from my earlier post. If our rotten climate should take a turn for the better a useful way of keeping piggies cool is to fill a plastic bottle three quarters full, screw the cap down firmly and freeze it. Then, if we get a warm day ( please ) the bottle can be wrapped in a towel and placed in piggy's home. Then he can cool off next to it if he wishes.

I have never needed to do this indoors but I take a bottle with me if I have to travel with a piggy in the summer as it can get hot in the car.

Hopefully, your piggy will get used to the brushing. Some love it and some don't but persevere!

Penny and the Piggyfriends.
