Guinea pigs can certainly get cancer and many of us on the digest have lost
piggies to cancer.  

I'm a bit more familiar with rabbit medicine but I'm sure the same holds
true with piggies.  As rabbits live longer due to better veterinary care and
better nutrition, housing, etc. they are starting to get senior diseases
such as cardiac problems and arthritis.  It's unfortunate for buns to have
these problems but it's great that they are living longer and in the case of
my eight year old bunny Dasha, we keep her arthritis under control with an
as-needed dose of Metacam that I squirt onto her salad.  Metacam is also
excellent for arthritic guinea pigs.
