Donna and the SC Pigs

Hopefully you will have seen from a previous posting that I have been without the Internet all month, so please forgive the fact that I wasn't able to express my condolences for Becky sooner. I was so sorry to hear of her passing, but glad that she had been rescued and loved by you, and appeared to have departed peacefully for the Rainbow Bridge. I know what a shock it is to lose an apparently healthy animal whilst one which appears to be at death's door seems to go on and on. I lost a 12 year old, very healthy cat, Buster, in June - fit as a fiddle in the morning, collapsed when I got home from work and died en route to the vet's, yet I have a 16 year old deaf-blind cat with chronic kidney failure who is still full of beans, and you may have read how I found Scarecrow dead in the hutch one morning, whilst Scrabble has been suffering from bumblefoot for quite a while. We just never know what is round the corner, and I think must just thank our lucky stars every day when we find all our pets to be in good health.

As you say, Becky is now free from suffering, and in very good company as we all have piggies at the Bridge already. I hope Aunt Polly is coping OK with the loss. Does she have other piggies in adjacent cages? I have found the male Dolly Mixtures appreciate having other chaps in cages beside them, and in fact Scrabble was happy to accept his neighbours into his own cage when Fidget went to The Bridge, although Zebra was not happy about having a completely strange youngster in with him. I have always kept all my girls in groups of three or more, so a departure never means a lone piggie being left - and now I have only six girls (which I can hardly believe), they are all in together.

My thoughts go out to you and Aunt Polly - even though Becky's departure was some time ago, I know you will still be hurting.

Debbie (and the 11 Dolly Mixtures)
