Magnus is 4 this month.  Last time I took him to the vet, he watched him
walk and said "good, no hopping".  So of course I asked what that meant.
The vet said that when older pigs start to hop with their back legs that
they typically are getting arthritis.  I asked what happens then; and he
said they get some pain meds (that will likely be life-long).  That is all I
know.  I hope this helps to inform you.
