Hello Anne,

Although passing blood can be indicative of other illnesses, the most common reason for this is cystitis or UTI - Urinary Tract Infection. Sows with this problem often squeak when urinating and lift their rear end at the same time. A UTI is readly treated with a course of antibiotics.

Here's some useful advice from GuineaLynx http://www.guinealynx.com/uti.html Some sows are prone to this problem and it can recur.

Good luck with Maisie at the vets tomorrow.

Penny and the Piggyfriends.
