Stacy, Sorry to read that Willie is not eating very well.

I have never used Metronidazole but I have seen it under the Flagyl name on the shelf at my rodentologist and I know that it should be given with food.

Any time that I have had a piggy undergo surgery, I have always been prepared to syringe feed if they do not start up immediately for themselves.

They lose weight and condition so quickly and there is the danger of gut stasis so I would syringe feed Willie, even if he does not like it, for his own good. It is good that he is eating hay but he needs his veggies for the vitamin C.

You could try making a slurry from his pellets mixed with pulped veggies. I always make up the CCT recipe of chinchilla pellets mixed with instant mashed potato and dissolve a piece of a Vitamin C tablet into the water that I use to make the syringe mix.

I hope that by the time you read this that Willie is eating more by himself.

Paws crossed,

Penny and the Piggyfriends.
