Many thanks to everyone who has emailed me or posted about my new little piggy. If I haven't replied yet, I am getting around to it!

I keep a book, in which I record the dates when the Piggyfriends have their Ivomec and wormer so that I don't forget their routine doses. Yesterday I was writing all their names on a new page and added his at the end of the list. I wrote Casanova without thinking so I guess that his name will stay after all. I had been thinking of names beginning with F as he resembles Frodo so closely but he says that he is happy with the name that Chris gave to him. So I wrote out a name card and pegged it to the pen.

I have found out a little more of his story. The owner of the rescue from which he was adopted helps out her local branch of the RSPCA by taking piggies when she has room. He was one of a group of 20 or so boars who had all been kept together. She has been trying to pair them up for adoption but kept my little boy separate as he was being bullied by the others. It had seemed ideal to her when he was adopted by those people with the two sows and, if they had gone about it the right way, he may well have fitted in with their group but their loss is Lilac's and my gain. Imagine anyone keeping so many boars together. There could have been untold damage inflicted. My little one is obviously a lover not a fighter so the name Casanova will suit him well after all.
