Tonight is the night to light a candle in memory of Peter Gurney and all of the piggies who are with him at the Rainbow Bridge. This is our annual candle-light memorial and all you have to do is light a candle tonight at or around 8:00 pm, in your particular time zone. As the candles are lit, the light will move around the world, in his honor.

If you cannot light the candle at 8:00 pm, light it when you can. A late light or an early light is still a bright spot of rememberance, and it is the thought that counts.

You can read about Peter Gurney, who passed away in England of cancer in 2006, on the GPDD home page. He was a world authority on guinea pigs and an advocate, who wrote many of the books we all use. His web site is still one of our best sources of information.

After you light your candle, send me an email or post to the GPDD telling me where you are, and I will compile a list of all the places where a candle was lit, and post it here.

This is a wonderful way to do something special that requires very little effort, but means so much. I will be lighting my candle tonight in honor of Peter and my beloved GP Reese, who is with him at the Rainbow Bridge.

Remember that Daylight Savings Time went into effect today, so if this affects you, remember to change your clocks for one hour ahead (and one hour less sleep).
