Bunnies lick each other's eyes as well. I know of one bunny who licked his
mates eye. There was an abscess, but the repeated licking actually drained
the abscess better than a vet could. I have a bunny who has since lost her
mate but Oliver would frequently lick her runny eyes. Now I have to go to the
vet to have them drained. I would think that a guinea pig licking eyes would
be helpful to those pigs who are prone to "eye boogers" or getting little
pieces of hay stuck in their eyes.

I think it's also done as a sign of affection and it's awfully cute to watch.

"It doesn't matter what the kids say. Rabbits are not disposable like a box
of cereal or a Disney video. They WILL get tired of the rabbits and go on to
the next toy. YOU will have to deal with the consequences. Unfortunately,
most people deal with the situation by DUMPING their rabbits on someone else.
Ultimately, it is the bunny that pays for your inability to say NO."
