In case I didn't write back personally to anyone who wrote to me -  
thank you so much for your advice and good wishes! I am going away for  
two days, which is why I can't respond for a bit, but I am going to  
take Cocoa with me, so I can give him pain meds and make sure he gets  
some food down. I'll write again when I'm back...
