Oh, Carol... oh, I am so upset reading this. I organized the event and when Joe and Gail showed up with George, it was a sight to behold. He was a very very spoiled guinea pig. I also remember when George died, and poor Joe - his postings on the GPDD were so heartwrenching. 

I do appreciate you posting this information. I frequently wonder what happened to them because Joe stopped posting after awhile.
