Kelly,

I have seen two piggies have seizures, both of which were suffering with mites when they arrived here at Piggyfriends. After the first dose of Ivermectin, Primrose stopped fitting but Balthazar, who was in the worst condition that I have ever seen, needed several doses at the appropriate intervals before the fitting stopped completely. After each dose, the fits became less and less severe until they stopped completely.

So your little Pancake could have mites. Get him checked out asap. It never hurts to give a dose of Ivermectin just in case. My piggies are all dosed on a regular basis to keep such problems at bay.

It is possible for piggies to have epilepsy, though I have never encountered this myself. My Richardson's "Diseases of Domestic Guinea Pigs" states that epileptic piggies can be helped with an anti convulsant such as primidone. Let us hope that it doesn't come to this.

Best wishes and hugs to Pancake.

Penny and the Piggyfriends.
