  I just saw in another post that it was a deep cut.  You're right, normally you would flush wounds with dilute Betadine (very dilute), saline, or dilute chlorhexidine (Nolvasan/ Chlorhexiderm/ Hibiclens). Still, since you are giving him oral antibiotics combined with topical antibiotics, he should be fine. That little bit of tap water shouldn't hurt unless he is seriously immunocompromised.
   
  Side effects for Metacam are normally upset stomach and refusal to eat b/c their tummy hurts. If you give it with food, you shouldn't have that problem. Here is the link about pain meds on Guinea Lynx:
