I am so sorry that you and Lizzy lost Snickers. It is always a shock when they pass away really fast. It is usually a heart attack when they go fast like that. I have had 4 die with a heart attack. I know how hard it is. 
Maybe after you have both grieved for Snickers, you can get Lizzy a friend. If you give her lots of attention, she will be OK living alone. She may act very depressed at first though. Again I am sorry for your loss.
