Scamps story broke my heart. I have a wonderful vet in Tampa Florida
that has euthanized piggys for me. They peacefully fall asleep in my
arms. I asked Dr. Frank Bonsack to write out his procedure. The
following are his exact words "For small animals such as a guinea pig,
birds, rodents, rabbits, reptiles, and many cats, I give Beuthanasia as
the drug, and I give it I.P. (intra-peritoneum) on the mid-line of the
abdomen. I usually use a 20gauge needle, because the solution is very
thick and takes too long if a smaller needle is used.
It is taken into the blood stream , much slower than an I.V. injection,
but it is much more humane, than to try and hit a vein, or do a
intra-cardiac injection.
The animal just drifts into a permanent
sleep. This also gives the owner time to sit with their pet while it
goes to sleep. (if they so desire).
The ventral midlline has a minimum amount of nerves, as compared to
going thru muscle, and doesn't seem to visibly upset them in my 35years
of practice.
I hope this helps you."

I hope these instructions will help anyone that needs to have their
beloved pet euthanized. Euthanasia can be the kindest last deed that you
do for your piggy. I can attest that this is the best method I have ever
seen used. Most importantly your piggy will not feel any pain if it is
done correctly.

Sincerely, Ann and the rescued piggys of Piggyville Tampa Florida
