I wanted to welcome you back to the gpdd! It is still filled with wonderful people.
I have never had a free-range piggie. I was always afraid of a hazard that I might have overlooked and I have house plants too. 
Peter Gurney always had male free-range piggies. He wrote about them in his books. If you could get him to poo and pee in one place, that would be nice. I think mine would go all over the place though. I would be cleaning all the time. I just had mine in big cages on lots of newspaper and towels.
