The (new) vet that we've had so far, consulted with the more experienced vet, and he couldn't see any obvious blockage in the x-ray. They discussed the situation and said FOR THE NEXT 24 HOURS to give fluids ONLY. The vet is also prescribing lactulose. So we'll be giving peppermint water, apple juice, pedialyte. It sounds like the vets are stumped. Blossom doesn't show any interest in fresh food, but she does guzzle the critical care. I always say to her how she's such a good girl! because she takes things by syringe very well.
The vet said if they're not better by Monday, that they'll give Barium and do an x-ray.
Still thinking there might be a partial blockage, I put Blossom on a vibrating/massaging pillow, held it in my lap, and held her there for about ten minutes. Then I massaged her gently. Then I gave her some mineral oil. Then some peppermint water to wash all that down. I try to syringe her some fluids every couple of hours.
Baby Truffles has tiny tiny poos. She also isn't eating on her own. But she's gotten better and eats the critical care via syringe quite nicely. She also loves the peppermint water via syringe.
Their buddy, Sparkles, still has soft poo. I feel awful, trying my best to help her, but obviously, most of our energies are focused on mother and daughter. But Sparkles has been a good little girl. I give her gripe water every three to four hours. She went on a round of panacur that didn't seem to do anything for her. Our next course is to try sulfatrim. That's what her vet had suggested which is why he gave us both panacur and sulfatrim to try on her.
THANK YOU for all the suggestions and well wishes. Believe me! they are much appreciated and much needed!
Loving wheeks,
Corrine and Michael
