Dear Corrine,

I know you are probably in no state to believe me, but please, please don't be so hard on yourself. The only think you did was try to help Blossom, and it sounds to me like you just gave her a few more hours to live with you, by making it easier for her to breathe for those last few hours. She spent her last minutes in your arms, knowing you loved her, and that's the best thing that could have happened to her.

I think you said that Blossom was 4 1/2. That is really not that young for a piggie. I know people on the list have piggies that live to 6 or 7 or even longer, but please remember that between all of us there are a LOT of piggies, and that is not an average! Sometimes no matter what you would have done, it would have been time for the piggie to say goodbye.

I know it is very frustrating (infuriating, maddening) not to be able to have confidence in the vet. Having had my own experience with that, all I can do is offer my heartfelt sympathy.

Your guinea pigs are so lucky to have lived with someone who really cared about them and loved them. So many piggies don't. Please be kind to yourself, Corrine, you are a very good person.

Love and wheeks from Suzy and Rocky
