I would just make sure that there is physical separation between the
enclosure for all piggies, that if the cages belong to the establishment
that they are beached out between guests, and that the piggie and rabbit are
is separate room that is closed off at all times from the dog cat room,
piggies are extremely threatened by barking, and stalking cats. And if they
board snakes, esp boas and other "swallowers" that they have complete
separation containment and that there are no old lost snakes who could
slither out of the heating duct and make your piggy their monthly meal.
Sanitation is key, are the floors washed daily with a disinfectant, and that
bottles are bleached, the food enclosure room has all the food in air tight
containers, the water is filtered, no signs of dirty storage rooms. And then
in talking to the staff that there are fire and smoke alarms aplenty, they
work, there is an active evacuation plan an approved way to get the animals
here, there are knowledgeable personnel who could treat gas for instance,
and they know the symptoms of stasis, check daily for plentiful wet pooping,
bottles of hand gel everywhere, gloves, prominent emergency instructions,
rodent vet on 24 hour call that they are willing to consult if there is any
question in their mind. They are willing to use you own food, water, and
veggies, or if they provide veggies they are prewashed, hopefully organic or
grown by the shop itself and trimmed washed in filtered water, never shared,
so in other words, just the basics!! and that everything is clean and the
people know all about each type of animal the serve. Sounds overblown but
you would otherwise worry endlessly.
