Penny and the Piggyfriends
We are beginning to dread reading our gpdd's, as it seems just lately that every one bears news of yet another sad departure of one of our community to The Rainbow Bridge. We ourselves have experienced the agony of leaving a sick piggie at Cavies Castle and ringing for progress reports, only eventually to hear the sad news we all dread hearing, but like you we know Frodo could not have been in a better place, and everything possible will have been done to keep him with us just a little longer - it was obviously just his time.
Virtually all the Dolly Mixtures have gone to The Bridge without a diagnosis, and we know only too well how frustrating that is. At least you were able to give Frodo a happy life which he would not otherwise have had, and we are certain he will have known just how much he was loved. We know all the Piggyfriends live in the lap of luxury, and it does sound as though he was a wonderful character who will be very sadly missed.
We hope Shadow is able to cope with this loss - it is hard when two piggies have snuggled together for so long. We hope you are able to find him a new cagemate - this is something that never seems to work well here at Serendipity. At least Frodo will be reunited at The Bridge with Maple, and all the other Piggyfriends and other departed piggies - as you say, too many just recently.
At least Frodo did not have to struggle against a long, terminal illness, but we realise that a departure can hit harder when it is so unexpected. Please do find some comfort in the fact that slaves all over the globe are grieving with you, and wish you well.
Debbie and the 8 Dolly Mixtures
"We patronize them for their incompleteness,
for their tragic fate of having taken a form so far below ourselves.
And therein we err, and greatly err.
For the animal shall not be measured by man.
In a world older and more complete than ours
they move finished and complete, gifted
with extensions of the senses we have lost or never attained,
living by voices we shall never hear.
They are not brethren, they are not underlings;
they are other nations, caught with ourselves
in the net of life and time, fellow prisoners
of the splendour and travail of the earth".
