Hi Joanne

I know that piggies do get cancer, for a fact. My sister had a Rex who we had to have put to sleep due to a huge tumour in his tummy region; and her current Rex has adenocarcinoma of the mammary glands (yep..... a male piggy with breast cancer). He had both the cancers removed about 18 months ago, and is still going strong - he's happy, loves to run around the floor in his free time; but I have noticed his weight is dropping, and I can feel his spine/hip bones. So I guess that means the cancer is working inside home, but it seems to be working slowly. We didn't expect to have him so long, and he shows no signs of giving in and heading to the Bridge.

Sometimes piggies get malocclusion of the molar teeth, which prevents eating..... maybe Macie is still eating, but not enough to keep her weight up. Maybe you could try syringe feeding some Critical Care for a while, as a supplement, not as a sole food, to see if the weight increases. I've also heard that Critical Care is supposed to stimulate the appetite, so I can't see it hurting Macie to try this for a while.

Also, piggies can get crusty sores on the lips/side of the mouth, which can hurt them, and could make eating painful.

I did have one other thought..... but it's totally gone out of my brain at the moment. I will write again when I remember it!

Best of luck with your baby, Macie
