Ahoy Dare Pirate Roscoe,

Good for you. You be a savvy fellow.
Now for us and our purposes, grog can be anything wheee drinks
straight or mixed. (Wheee can lift a mug of "grog" to toast any occasion. Whatever
might be in da mug, we can call grog and dat be ok.). But da reason I be
hoping to hear came from you, an with a lot of udder interesting
information, too.
Drinking-water stored on board becomes rancid or slimy while out ta
sea, so da rum be mixed with da pirate's portion of water and it be dis
mixture dat properly be called "grog" back in da olde days. Some 'ventually gots
clever and added juice from citrus fruit. Let me tell you, dat does help da
taste.
So wheese carries barrels of dem kinds of fruit even now. Da rum and
den later da citrus helped keep us healthier, too, and we wants to be daring,
dashing hearty souls. But still, we don'ts talk much about such stuff as
"health benefits." Wheek wheek! And, of course, many of us just want good
ole pure rum in our mugs when whee raise dem in a toast. We not be
adverse to drinking our swill straight from da bottle as far as dat goes.
Yeah, Pirate Roscoe, youse be a clever pig. My compliments, Matey.

Capt'n Jack
