Dinah,

Last year my Sapphire had similar symptoms to your Mr. White. She wanted to eat but could not and was salivating profusely. I took her to the Rodentologists, expecting her to need some dental work carried out but her teeth were fine. Upon examination, small strands of hay were found stuck at the back of her throat, which had made her mouth sore and she had developed oral thrush.

She had to be syringe fed for about a fortnight and had Daktarin Oral gel twice a day. She could eat a very little if I fed her with tiny strips of veg by poking them into her mouth and after a week on the oral gel, she was able to eat a little by herself. Each day she managed a little more for herself and I decreased the amount of syringe feeding until she was OK again.

Best of luck with your little man.
