Hi Grace,

I shaved one of my long haired piggies one year and it didn't have any 
adverse affects. He didn't like it but it helped keep him cool and clean.

I also highly recommend Jocelyn's suggestion about the frozen water bottles 
only wrap it in a towel first, especially if you have chewers.

Also put several fans, rotating ones work best, around the room to keep the 
air flowing. It doesn't do a lot to keep the air cool but it keeps it from 
getting so hot and stale.
