Drum-roll please.....

Joe and I are proud to announce a new member to our family, Jodie!

She will be Peaches new companion after the death of Pumpkin.  A volunteer at the Medfield Animal Shelter in Medfield, Ma. saw a family of three GPs offered free on Craig's List.  Fearing they would end up as snake food she rescued them and took them to the shelter.  Judy at the shelter knew we were looking for a girl piggie and gave us a call on Tuesday, and we picked her up on Wednesday!  Joe held her for about two minutes and said "okay, we will take her"!

It seems whoever had them thought they had two of the same sex until the girl (Jodie) gave birth to two babies.  One died and after having the three for about a year they decided they couldn't keep them and advertised on Craig's List.  The boar and their son are still at the shelter waiting for their forever home.  

Jodie is about two years old and a 'chunk of pig'.  She is mostly white with a large black spot over her right eye area.  She has a touch of brown around the black area.  She is very soft to touch and will make a great cuddle pig.  She looks well cared for and healthy.  She has a few healed scabs on her belly I am keeping an eye on to make sure it isn't from mites.

She is a little skittish right now and we have a wire fence separating her from Peaches.  We may try and introduce them during floor time this weekend.  She won't take food from our hands yet and she doesn't seem to like lettuce. 

Picking a name was hard.  We ended up with Jodie because we like the name and it is our names - Joe and Dee.  Now isn't that just so cute!
