Hi all,

My Dunya has very red foot soles, and on her back paws she has a scab/crust
on each sole.
Does anyone have a clue what it could be?
According to the vet you see that a lot in guinea pigs.
Usually it's because of a hard underground, but I use newspapers, saw dust
and a layer of soft straw bedding, which she said is fine.

She also has a very red skin and seems to be scratching more than usual.
So far she has been treated with ivomec/ivermectin: 2 injections (14 days
apart), and one
apply to skin (behind ears) dose. We have also treated her skin with Surolan
(miconazol/prednisolon).
When she was treated with the above she had sores on outside of front paws,
and was balding (outside front paws, on troat and on her belly around back
paws).
Her hairs still havent grown back completely,
Vet currently is treating with 3 injections of ivomec now all one week
apart. To see if that works, otherwise we should do a fungus culture.
Dunya always shedded more hair than the others, and she seems to get these
problems everyonce in a while, I hope we find the right treatment soon.
Dunya does not really seems bothered by it, but still I'd like to clear this
up for her.
The vet did not think it was ovarian cysts, and I agree with her. There is
no thinning hair on the sides, and she is not very dominant. Guiny did have
them, so I know how it looks and how they behave...

Chico seems to show similar signs, mainly on belly near back legs, might be
urine scald? In his dark fur I can see flakes likes dandruff (Dunya is
white). He seems to have very dry skin and loves me to give him a good rub
and scratch.

Now were on the subject of health. Woopy has been treated with antibiotics
for several times now. She had pain peeing, and had blood in pee, later she
just seemed to have pain when peeing or pooing. Now I'm not sure if she
really has any pain peeing/pooing, but I did notice she has pointy poos...
Is this anything to worry about? She does not like to be touched on the back
sides, I'm worried it might hurt there.

Thanks your advice, which i'm sure will come :D

Grtz, Mieke
Remaining Winky girls: Dunya and Woopy who seem to eat a lot less, now Guiny
has left them.
Guiny must have eaten loads of pellets and drink a lot, cause I need to
refill a lot less often.
and my Valentine Chico (who I'm hoping to move in with the girls, after
certain events have taken place...)
