sounds very hopeful, if that hormone keeps working then surgery can be put
off, a spay is serious business, if your vet has done many on pigs and buns
that's a really good sign. If she has surgery using the drug Reglan before
and 2 weeks after surgery keeps down nausea and esp. gas which helps keep
the stitches from itching, if the stitches dont itch she is much less likely
to scratch and bite at the stitches, so keep down all gassy food for at
least a month after surgery. Make sure the surgeon doesn't use staples,
glue, or steri strips, 2 layers of stitches are best See if your surgeon
agrees if this eventuality comes about. In the meantime do everything you
can to keep her well hydrated, wet greens and veggies, slowly teach the
syringe is a friend and give her treats of water or slurry from it. Just
keep at it very gently still she does see it as a friend. If its hard use
one to drink from yourself at the same time, she will learn from that
Continued good fortune, and do have breakfast with her, even its her usual
foods. By alternately offering foods she will eat more than if the food is
left in her cage for her to eat.
