In rabbits they honestly dont use Ivermectin for e.c., they just use it for
mites, Penny's article points out that her Ivermectin bunnies never got
e.c., but Hershey either already has it or its side effects from Flagyl, so
go with the Panacur or the oxibendazole. I'm not saying Ivermectin cant
work, most gp's get Ivermectin maybe that's why gp's rarely manifest it. I
have never had a piggy without Ivermectin or with e.c.(that I know of see
last nights article I wrote titled e.c. and I've had allot. But she lives
next to a Bunny they almost all have been exposed. If you want a more
definitive answer get the e.c. titre test, it's not wholly definitive but
shows exposure, if exposed an animal could get it.

Plus vets usually give it by shots that have to be repeated every 7 to 12
days, do you want that many vet visits? When this is over I would
definitely treat her 3 to 4 times a year with ivermectin, meaning 3 or 4
rounds of 2 shots each. That does keep the mites away and perhaps will
prevent a reoccurrence. Penny's article does refer to g.ps.'s getting it,
the etherbun board I was on talked about occasionally, its rare but it
happens and your piggies lives with a bun, strong anecdotal evidence.
besides the only other common thing that produces all those neurological
symptoms is ear infection, and as far as I know Hershey has not gotten
antibiotics, so why would she be cured, plus she had the stiff legs, which
is the first symptom of e.c. not ear infection. We have built a good case
for e.c.even if its rare, rare things happen all the time.

You are paying the vet, she needs to listen to you, read the articles, esp
since she's not a specialist, the stuff I' sent is from specialists. Take
charge of her!! That's the best thing that's learned from being a member of
etherbun, vet management!!

Go get em! Sandy
