Hi Irina, I have heard that chin slings do work, I dont know where to get
them though. Could you tell us more about his condition. Does he eat hay and
tough veggies as well as pellets? Are his teeth properly aligned? If you
aren't positive you might try to find a rodentologist who can tell and
correct back molar problems, front incisors that are too long or misaligned
can cause it too. Did it come on slowly or quickly? What have you done so far
or are you just starting? I have heard that chin slings work but you do
need to absolutely rule out bad teeth and abscesses. Just a thought, having
had a mild case of TMJ my whole life and knowing my piggies, they just love
to have their chins, and jaws rubbed and massaged all the way up to and
under and behind the ears. I do this to myself also and it really helps the
sore muscles that come from a misaligned jaw or one that has to work too
hard to do the job.

If he is having allot of trouble eating pellets or veggies you may need to
supplement with syringe feeding of very mashed up pellets or better yet
critical Care, also he made need a supplement of 50 mg of vit C daily if he
isn't getting enough pellets or Vit C fruits. Hopefully the chin strap will
help and some muscle strength can be rebuilt. Please keep us in the loop.
If you need a specialist you may want to post back and ask for
recommendations in your area. We would like to wish him good recovery so
could we know his name? I have just thrown out some ideas here but if you
have specific questions we would be happy to address them. I am sure he can
be helped. Good luck Sandy and Shipwreck Sam
