I have some additional info to pass from Ann Evans regarding the chin strap
and associated issues of teeth surgeries, pain relief, and anesthesia.
first she says she knows of chin slings but have never used them.
She adds your Piggy need Rimadyl (or pain relief and as anti
nflammatory) ) Start out with 10 mg
twice a day then lower to 5 mg twice a day. Also needs Daktarin oral gel
which is 20 mg miconazole per 1 gram of gel. Have a vet pharmacist make
it up or order it from PCP. In the meantime until vet can get it Give
Nystatin 10,000 units 0.2ml twice a day. Piggy can't eat most likely
sore from fungal infection even if vet can not see it. Don't waste time
 doing cultures.

But even Vedra at the (Cambridge CavyTrust) says in some cases a vet may
need to
give 3.0% isoflurane for induction then maintain using a nose cone with
2.0-2.5% isoflurane for some dental work. No intubation of guinea pigs is
ever done.
This is the only anesthesia that can be used. No injectable anesthetics
NONE!!!!
Advice from Ann Evans who is off on her vacation
Best regards Sandy for Ann
